Been able to solve most of my problems thus far by searching and reading but can't find any info on this one. I've got a 66 coupe with an early 289 (aluminum water pump) and first run c4. The shifter in the car appears to be a later year as it requires the bushing to connect to transmission linkage. the C4 automatic transmission is a 3 speed transmission, it shifts by hydraulic pressure controlled by a governor and actuators, I would check your linkage to see that it is hooked up correctly to allow movement through all range selections, disconnect the linkage at the trans and see how many detents you feel while moving the lever back and ...
